Grant Overview

The Global Trail Network Initiative aims to establish an international network of trails connecting countries and cultures. The Capacity_first archetype is particularly relevant here as local organizations in participating countries require capacity building to manage and maintain trail systems. The initiative will focus on building partnerships between local communities, NGOs, and governments to develop and maintain trails, promoting cultural exchange and environmental stewardship. Global Trail Network Challenges: Participating countries face significant infrastructure constraints, including limited broadband access and a shortage of skilled trail maintenance workers. Addressing these challenges will be critical to successful trail development and maintenance. Who Should Apply Globally? Local organizations with experience in trail development and maintenance, as well as NGOs and government agencies, are eligible to apply. Applications will be evaluated based on their ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of the local trail needs and their capacity to implement projects that meet those needs. Global Trail Network Opportunities: The initiative will provide opportunities for cultural exchange and environmental stewardship, promoting a global understanding of trail management and conservation best practices. The grant evaluation process will consider the potential economic benefits of trail development, as well as their environmental impacts. Unlike other international trail initiatives, the Global Trail Network Initiative will focus specifically on capacity building for local organizations. The initiative will be shaped by the diverse geography and economic contexts of participating countries, with a focus on promoting cultural exchange and environmental stewardship.
