Insurance premiums for ocean freight rise when declared values exceed $4,000 per consignment, a threshold frequently reached when supplying national teams.
Recipient organizations must demonstrate registration in the destination country, a local bank account capable of receiving wire transfers, and a written agreement with customs brokers that itemizes brokerage fees. Unlike bilateral programs, international awards require dual sign-off from both the sending supplier and the receiving ministry or accredited NGO. Documentation standards include serial-numbered packing lists and photographs of equipment upon arrival to confirm condition before release of final payment tranche.
Program rules prohibit use of funds for construction or land acquisition. Instead, budgets may allocate up to 18 percent for freight, insurance, and inspection costs when these expenses are supported by three independent quotes.
